I know all of the technical jargon and detailed facts about the science of whole body vibration equipment can be a lot to digest and sometimes may seem a little overwhelming.

The way that I really comprehend and interpret how whole body vibration equipment functions is by relating it to subjects I know, understand and care more about.
Basically, vibration plates work by exposing the user to an increase in acceleration (gravitational force) at a very high rate of speed for a short amount of time. The stimulus of the vibration is experienced greatest in the muscle group of body part that is placed directly in line with the vibration and loaded.
Think of it like this, if you stand on a vertical vibration platform operating at a speed of 20 Hz and an amplitude of 2mm your body is traveling a distance of 2mm up and down 20 times every second. This forces all of the stabilizer muscles to contract 20 times every second and exposes your entire body to a weight bearing exercise and all of the benefits from it.
Now, if you were to squat down to into a forty-five degree squat position on that same platform operating with the same parameters above (frequency 20 Hz, amplitude 2mm). By squatting, you are changing the position of your body and putting the load of your body weight on the quadriceps muscles which are in line with the vibration.
This change in body position and load (body weight) breaks the connection of bone, muscle and tissues that bear the load of your body weight in line with the vibration platform when standing fully erect, allowing vibration to travel through the entire body and into the head. You'll instantly feel the vibration stimulus leave your upper body and focus on your quadriceps muscles, which would be contracting 20 times every second.
If your body performs 20 muscle contractions (repetitions) every second for 30 seconds, that's 600 muscle contractions or repetitions in half a minute.
In addition to the incredibly high number of repetitions every second, the muscle contractions are involuntary which means nearly 100% of the muscle spindle is contracted during each repetition. This occurs because the body does not know which part of the muscle to contract during an involuntary contraction; it contracts the entire muscle spindle to dampen the vibration transferring into the body.
Our bodies are wired to respond with the involuntary contractions as a protective mechanism, it's how we're programmed.
We're now able to see why vibration equipment is so effective at producing such phenomenal results in so little time. It forces the body to exercise involuntarily, forces a phenomenally high number of muscle contractions every second and recruits nearly the entire muscle spindle on each contraction.
